About
Ajahn Dhammavidu
Ajahn Dhammavidu (Kenneth Croston) is an English-born Buddhist monk. He ordained as a novice in 1994 and as a bhikkhu in 1995, and lived for some seventeen years at Suan Mokkh Nānāchat, the international hermitage of Wat Suan Mokkh in Chaiya, southern Thailand, founded by Ajahn Buddhadāsa.
For many years he has helped teach meditation to retreatants at the Suan Mokkh International Dharma Hermitage and at the Dipabhāvan Meditation Center on Koh Samui. Around 2010 he began translating the works of Ajahn Buddhadāsa Bhikkhu into English — the texts collected here — bringing into English talks from series such as the “Commonly Misunderstood Buddhist Principles.”
As of 2026, Ajahn Dhammavidu periodically leads Vipassanā Course 2 at the Dipabhāvan Meditation Center on Koh Samui, Thailand.
Ajahn Buddhadāsa Bhikkhu
Ajahn Buddhadāsa Bhikkhu (1906–1993) was one of the most influential Thai Buddhist teachers of the twentieth century and the founder of Suan Mokkh. He is the author of the talks translated in these texts.
